Cloud Architect

The IT career of Brian Laws has spanned both infrastructure and development. Despite graduating the University of Maryland, College Park, as a dual English/History major, Brian began his IT career in 2000 with Access, moving on to SQL Server and web development, then SQL Server administration, then virtualization, and finally on to SharePoint. Along the way, he became a virtualization evangelist and a lover of automation. Brian has been working with SharePoint in nearly every capacity since 2008. His SharePoint expertise is primarily in architecture, administration, hybrid, and enterprise search (but he’s been known to rock some Visual Studio solutions as well). He has passed all four of the SharePoint 2013 certification tests, two of the SQL Server 2012 BI tests, and is looking next at the Office 365 and Azure tests. He also has the following certifications: MCITP: SharePoint Administrator 2010, VCP 4 & 5, ITIL v3 Foundations.

After a recent stint managing the AnchorPoint Support service, Brian has turned his focus to the Cloud and Cloud Architecture. He is known as a technical optimizer and a creative problem solver. He’s all about working smarter, not harder. He enjoys providing the right business solutions with the right technology at optimal performance. He also understands that IT success is not just about technology but about also process and service management as well.

Brian likes to spend time with his wife and three kids. When they let him, he also enjoys playing video games, reading comics, and watching his favorite shows. Yeah, he’s a geek through-and-through. His head is usually in the Cloud, dreaming about PowerShell and automation.
