Designate a Partner of Record for Microsoft Online Services

What’s a partner of record?

Microsoft recognizes that its partners are a key ingredient in successful Office 365 deployments, so they let customers designate a partner of record (POR) for each Office 365 subscription. Naming a partner of record gives that partner credit with Microsoft for the subscriptions in your Office 365 account. Microsoft uses the number of subscriptions associated with a given partner to decide what tier to put that partner in. For some subscription types, Microsoft also pays the partner an incentive fee.

Designating a partner of record doesn’t cost you anything, and it doesn’t mean that the chosen partner has access to your data or your environment. Choosing a particular POR, or not choosing one at all, doesn’t impact the service and support you get from Microsoft. However, choosing a trustworthy, knowledgeable partner to help plan and execute your Office 365 deployment is the best way to ensure that you have a good experience, and carefully selecting a POR is an important part of that choice.
