KCTCS DRIVES BUSINESS VALUE WITH A BUSINESS-CRITICAL SHAREPOINT SOLUTION FROM SUMMIT 7 SYSTEMS

Despite consolidation, Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) 68 campuses were left with disparate cultures, systems, and business processes. Summit 7 Systems used InFlight to extend the existing line-of-business (LOB) systems into SharePoint 2013 to provide simplified access to LOB data and improve business-critical processes.
Read how we designed and implemented an engaging employee portal on SharePoint 2013 that brought everybody together on a single system in our case study featured on www.microsoft.com.

WEBINAR: THE DREAMS & REALITIES OF SHAREPOINT CLOUD ARCHITECTURES

You can’t escape the cloud discussion. It follows you around every day. You look in the sky and there they are – clouds. Your CIO is talking it up with the users and the IT staff. The cloud vendors make promises. The dream of squeezing a huge architecture or small application into a data center in another state for pennies is harassing you daily.
Are you lost in those clouds? Are you seeking to understand how this will save you money? Guess what? In some cases, it won’t. Join Jason Miller and Apptix for a frank geek-to-geek talk on the dreams and realities of the cloud. We’ll talk about the options available in cloud architectures and help you decide what makes financial sense for your environment.

CANNOT REMOVE SERVER REFERENCE FROM FARM: CACHE HOST INFO IS NULL

I am beginning to believe that Distributed Cache Service in SharePoint Server 2013 will replace the User Profile Service in SharePoint 2010 as the service most hated by SharePoint administrators. Last week, when working with a test farm on virtual machines, I encountered a problem starting the Distributed Cache Service on a farm member. Since I needed to modify the server architecture to test moving services anyway, I just left the service stopped and ran the configuration wizard to remove the server from the farm. BAD MISTAKE!

TABBED WEBPARTS IN SHAREPOINT 2013/OFFICE 365

I think many would agree with me that one of the best things to ever happen to SharePoint 2007 in terms of an improved user experience was Christophe's EasyTabs over at Path To SharePoint. This script turned several web parts that were stacked on top of each other into a much more elegant tabbed view.
And there was much rejoicing.
